Simple Minds return to the stage on 14 April 2027 at the Arkea Arena in Floirac, with their signature blend of new wave, expansive synths, and atmospheric guitars. Born in Glasgow in 1977 around Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, the band has always evolved through mutations, moving from a nervous post-punk edge to a more expansive writing, sometimes close to European art rock, often driven by repetitive rhythms and electronic textures.
The concert promises a journey through the different periods, from the angular beginnings of Life in a Day and Empires and Dance to the more melodic momentum of New Gold Dream, then to the broader format of the 80s. It's hard to imagine the evening without Don't You (Forget About Me), a track that has become a landmark, on par with songs crafted for big choruses. Even today, Kerr and Burchill still steer the ship, surrounded by touring musicians, and keep a repertoire that links the elegance of new wave to a synthetic and direct rock.
