Info
On 12 February 2027, The Egyptian Lover lands at Jazz Cafe in London with his no-frills, body-moving electro straight from early-80s LA. Behind the alias is Greg Broussard, a key figure of the West Coast’s first electro and hip-hop wave, first known for rocking parties with Uncle Jamm’s Army and spinning the kind of vinyl that helped shape a whole scene.
His sound is all about punchy 808 patterns, tight funk DNA, looping synth lines and that half-spoken, half-sung delivery that hits like a voice-over from a neon sci-fi movie. From the landmark era of On the Nile through One Track Mind and Filthy, he’s built a catalogue that still feels made for the club: minimal, direct, and relentlessly rhythmic.
Expect a set that leans into the classics like “Egypt, Egypt” and “Dial-A-Freak”, alongside cuts that keep the same vintage circuitry alive. Classic electro and 80s hip-hop heads know the deal: this is music designed to lock in and not let go.
