On September 11, 2026, Sarah-Jane Morris will inaugurate the 'Women in (e)motion' festival at the Music Hall Worpswede with her program 'The Sisterhood.' There, she presents a song cycle that brings together great female voices and songwriters—as a musical sisterhood, inspired by artists such as Patti Smith, Sinéad O’Connor, Joan Baez, Etta James, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Ian, and Amy Winehouse.
Since the early 1980s, Morris has stood for an artistic stance that eschews genre boundaries: pop, jazz, soul and global influences intertwine in her work, carried by a dark, instantly recognizable voice. She first rose to prominence, among other things, through her collaboration with the Communards alongside Jimmy Somerville, before forging her own path as a solo artist.
'The Sisterhood' she developed together with the British guitarist Tony Remy, who will also be present on stage. The band is completed by Marcus Bonfanti on second guitar and Henry Thomas on bass.
