Born in Berhampore and trained at a young age in Hindustani classical singing, Shreya Ghoshal first captured attention on television before becoming, at the outset of the 2000s, one of the most recognizable voices in Indian playback singing, notably thanks to the songs from Devdas. Since then, she has traversed with rare ease the realms of major film scores and the stage, recording in many languages of Indian cinema: Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Marathi. Her style blends a sense of melodic pop, the finesse of the semi-classical, orchestral ballads, sometimes the ghazal or devotional repertoire, with clear diction and ornaments inherited from tradition. With 'The Unstoppable Tour', she returns to London in concert at The O2 on 4 June 2027, for a show centered on this supple and precise voice, capable of moving from a film chorus to a more classical line without interrupting the flow.
