If you like that meeting point between R&B, pop and soul, with clear echoes of Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Brandy or Janet Jackson, Tori Kelly is one of those voices that fits effortlessly. Raised in California, she rose to prominence at a very young age: she appeared on American Idol at 16 and, far from stopping there, began uploading homemade videos to YouTube until catching the industry's attention. Since then, her career has grown with songs in which she leads with her voice, often backed by guitar, and a pulse that can range from intimate ballads to the more rhythmic.
With six albums released, she has learned to move between melodic pop, contemporary R&B, soul and gospel-tinged influences, a line that was reinforced especially in works such as Hiding Place, which earned her two Grammy Awards. In concert, her live set rests on that blend of precision and vocal warmth that has placed her on the radar of names like Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Babyface or Ed Sheeran.
