James Baker will perform at Paloma in Nîmes on October 1, 2026. Based in the Paris suburbs, he advances in the French indie scene with a project built as a whole, where writing takes the leading role. Self-taught, he does it all himself, or almost: songwriter, composer, performer and producer, with his own distinctive way of weaving together indie pop, alternative rock, electro and rap without trying to fit them into boxes. His music also rests on a genuine visual dimension, fuelled by an unabashed love of cinema: for him, tracks often operate like scenes, with precise atmospheres and a fragmented narrative. With Romy Rose, his cycle of double EPs inspired by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, he explores memory, the desire to erase, denial, love and identity, in melancholic and electronic pop, interwoven with more raw bursts. On stage, this blend promises a taut, sensitive and carefully crafted set.
