Info
Horace Andy arrives at London's Jazz Café on December 1, 2026, with that supple, instantly recognizable tenor voice that has traversed roots reggae since the late 1960s. Born Horace Hinds in Kingston, he established himself in the orbit of Studio One before going on to release, in the 1970s, a string of tracks that became touchstones, from 'Skylarking' to 'Mr. Bassie', including 'Children of Israel', backed by key producers such as Coxsone Dodd, Bunny Lee, or Prince Jammy.
Over the decades, Andy has kept this warm, slightly hushed timbre and has evolved it toward leaner formats, often marked by dub and deep bass. He has also opened his singing to other sonic landscapes thanks to Massive Attack, featured on all of their studio albums, where his Jamaican phrasing slides into trip-hop and electronic textures without losing its grounding. On stage, he remains a direct, impassioned performer, capable of uniting purists as well as the curious.
