Since the early 1990s, Converge has carved a path distinct from the pack in hardcore and extreme metal, with a blend of dissonances, fractured rhythms and tempo shifts that has ultimately become a touchstone. The Boston-based band has imposed a very physical way of writing, where sonic violence collides with meticulously crafted structures, razor-sharp riffs and a tension that never relents. Foundational albums such as Petitioning the Empty Sky, When Forever Comes Crashing, and the indispensable Jane Doe laid the groundwork for a mutant metalcore, later expanded with You Fail Me, No Heroes, Axe to Fall, and The Dusk in Us.
On stage, everything hinges on the voice and presence of Jacob Bannon, between raw urgency and stark lyrics, carried by Kurt Ballou's sonic architecture and a tightly wound rhythm section with Nate Newton and Ben Koller. On November 15, 2026, at La Laiterie in Strasbourg, Converge will remind audiences why its controlled chaos continues to influence so many scenes, from modern hardcore to the most extreme forms of metal.
