Info
On October 6, 2026, at Massey Hall (Toronto), Engelbert Humperdinck returns to the stage with what he does best: delivering songs that endure, carried by a supple baritone voice and a very direct way of eliciting emotion without forcing it. Born Arnold George Dorsey in 1936 in Madras, raised in Leicester, he first rose to prominence in the 1950s before adopting the name Engelbert Humperdinck in the mid-1960s, at a time when his repertoire settled: orchestral pop, international variety, easy listening, romantic ballads and standards.
His breakthrough arrives in 1967 with 'Release Me', followed by 'The Last Waltz' and 'A Man Without Love', titles that firmly establish him in a stage-and-show format that is very well controlled, between cabaret, television and large venues. In Toronto, one can expect a concert built around these classics and this adult contemporary tradition that has traversed the decades with him, marked by clear melodies, careful arrangements, and the presence of the old-fashioned crooner.
