Tommy Castro lands on March 9, 2027 at Spirit of 66 in Verviers, with that Bay Area blues he has been shaping since the 1970s. A singer and guitarist born in San Jose, he has built a distinctive identity somewhere between electric blues, rhythm and blues, soul and rock, always carried by a true sense of groove and collective playing. Having spent time with NiteCry and then the Dynatones, he takes the reins of his own band in the early 1990s and releases a string of records that establish his stamp, from Exception to the Rule to Soul Shaker. At the turning of the 2010s, he tightens the format with Tommy Castro & The Painkillers: a more direct setup, tailored for boogie, urban blues and soul accents, found on The Devil You Know, Stompin’ Ground and Closer to the Bone. On stage, it is this energy you come to get: a solid voice, riffs that snap, and a living blues, with no posing.
