Pennywise heads to Toronto for a show on September 27, 2026 at History. Formed in the late 1980s in Hermosa Beach, the band built its signature sound on fast, melodic hardcore punk, somewhere between the urgency of hardcore and the efficiency of skate punk. Tense guitars, razor-sharp rhythms, choruses made to be sung along: Pennywise moves forward with lyrics that keep an eye on social and political issues, and on personal stories, as heard on their early classics or on their more recent records.
Circle Jerks kick off the bill with their lean, nerve-wracking Californian hardcore, in the vein of LA's first wave: short tracks, constant tension, and that biting irony that has marked them since Group Sex.
H2O brings back the energy of melodic New York hardcore: fast tempos, crowd-rousing choruses, lyrics centered on friendship, loyalty, and community, tailor-made for the live show.
Murphy’s Law rounds out the lineup with hardcore punk that knows how to spill over, slipping in ska, funk, and reggae, driven by a party spirit and humor that runs through their career.
