Mell Vf

On 28 March 2027, Mell VF will perform at Musis Arnhem. This Dutch trio blends R&B, soul and pop with a retro tint and keeps things compact and direct: singer/guitarist Mell Jonk, drummer/guitarist Ton Dijkman and keyboardist Martin Scheppink, who switches between Hammond organ, piano and bass. Under the name Mell & Vintage Future the band broke through in 2016 with a series of radio singles, followed by a debut album in 2019 where organic grooves and tight pop songs come together.

In 2021 Roots & Romance was released, a covers album created during the COVID period; their version of “Perfect Day” appeared in the 2022 Paramount film The In Between. Then in 2022 a second album of original material followed, with singles such as “Love Train,” “Worth It,” “Shine Your Light” and “Frozen in Time.” Appearances on Beste Zangers and Vandaag Inside in 2023 gave the trio additional exposure.

Live, Mell VF layers Hammond over a solid rhythm section, with guitar accents and a voice that can draw on both soul and rock, somewhere between Adele and Janis Joplin. The groove nods to Booker T. & The M.G.'s and Sly & The Family Stone, but the focus remains on the song. Expect a set that places new material alongside crowd favorites, played with dynamics and feeling—exactly the way you want to hear it in a venue like Musis Arnhem.
