Paul Heaton

Paul Heaton plays Plymouth Arena in Plymouth on 3 November 2026. The night also features The Lightning Seeds, the Liverpool pop-rock outfit built around songwriter and producer Ian Broudie.

First a studio-first project at the turn of the 1990s, Broudie shaped a melodic English pop that sits between indie pop, britpop and alternative rock. Cloudcuckooland (1990) set the tone, followed by Sense (1992) with The Life of Riley. After Jollification (1994), The Lightning Seeds grew into a full live band and settled onto UK pop and festival stages with tracks like Change, Lucky You, Perfect and You Showed Me, alongside occasional co-writing, notably with Terry Hall. In 1996 came Three Lions with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, a fixture in British football culture. Dizzy Heights (1996) and a more dance-leaning Tilt (1999) closed the decade, before a pause led to Four Winds (2009) and See You in the Stars (2022), keeping their blend of bright pop, supple guitars and clean arrangements very much in focus.
