Glen Hansard - Solo 2026

Glen Hansard comes to Leipzig solo: on 7 October 2026 the Dublin-born songwriter will take the stage at Haus Auensee — with only his voice, a guitar and his stories. Since the early 1990s he has shaped folk-rock with The Frames and became internationally known for the film Once and the song 'Falling Slowly'. Since 2012 he has released solo albums such as Rhythm and Repose, Didn’t He Ramble and This Wild Willing, which chart his path apart from the band.

In the solo format the essentials come to the fore: a distinctive voice, delicate fingerpicking and melodies that begin softly and open up organically. Hansard draws on a catalogue that includes The Frames, his solo work and songs from Once, mixing intimate ballads with more jagged moments and leaving room for spontaneous transitions. Between the pieces small stories and sketches arise that hold the evening together — intimate, direct and without theatrical embellishment.

Live, Hansard relies on reduction: no large set design, but songs and stories in direct exchange with the audience. Folk and rock without detour, carried by voice, acoustic guitar and subtle arcs of tension.
