Nouvelle Vague

Nouvelle Vague return to London at KOKO on 5 March 2027 to mark the release of their seventh album, A Date with Depeche Mode. Founded by Marc Collin and the late Olivier Libaux in 2003, the collective made its name by recasting post-punk and new wave into bossa nova hues and acoustic minimalism. For the first time, they devote a whole record to a single band: Depeche Mode.

Recorded in Rio with Brazilian musicians, the album reframes thirteen songs with nylon-string guitars, understated percussion and a new cast of voices, opening a dialogue between Brazil’s musical pulse and Depeche Mode’s writing, filtered through the Nouvelle Vague touch. The first single, Enjoy the Silence, arrives as a duet featuring Skye Edwards (Morcheeba) and Larry Love (Alabama 3), a stripped-back version tracked in Rio that sets the tone for the project.

On stage, Nouvelle Vague channel that lean, melodic approach, giving space to the vocals and the contours of the songs. A focused, intimate revisiting of a catalogue that left a mark on synth-pop, reimagined with the group’s calm, sunlit phrasing.
