Born in Ohio and based in Oakland, Maria BC has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary ambient folk. Her music, intimate and deeply atmospheric, combines string arrangements, delicate guitars, and a classically trained voice that moves between the fragile and the spectral.
After 'Hyaline' and 'Spike Field' — her debut on Sacred Bones — Maria BC returns in 2026 with 'Marathon', a new work marked by resilience, wear, and persistence. Her sonic universe has also found resonance in film, contributing the track 'Taper' to the soundtrack of 'I Saw the TV Glow', alongside artists such as Caroline Polachek, yeule, and Florist.
