Info
On June 6, 2027, at Salle Gaveau in Paris, Alfredo Rodríguez and Pedrito Martínez come together as a duo for an evening where Latin jazz is played up close, blending precise writing with raw pulse. Trained in classical music in Havana before turning to jazz, Rodríguez pairs a lucid technique with Afro-Cuban rhythms: the piano threads clear motifs, then opens into a structured, taut improvisation, always anchored by the groove.
Across from him, Pedrito Martínez brings the voice, the congas, and the energy of Afro-Cuban traditions—from rumba to batá rites—with a gift for singing and counter-rhythm learned in Havana’s working-class neighborhoods and honed in New York. Together, they draw on the spirit of Duologue and on Rodríguez’s repertoire, while also weaving in covers of pop and Cuban classics: a perpetual call-and-response dynamic, where each break prompts the other.
As the opening act, Kim Bernard opens the evening at the piano.
