King Buffalo

King Buffalo will be at Théâtre Fairmount in Montreal on December 10, 2026. Hailing from Rochester, the trio draws a clear line between heavy psychedelic rock, stoner and space rock, with krautrock inflections. On record as on stage, the tracks stretch out over slow to mid tempos, driven by a circular bass, a highly metrical drumbeat and guitars that favor progression, repetition and the gradual build-up of tension rather than frontal impact. This expansive songwriting asserted itself from Orion and Longing to Be the Mountain through Dead Star, then on the diptych The Burden of Restlessness and Acheron, before Regenerator. In concert, King Buffalo privileges duration, dynamics and the space between motifs — a clear three-piece interplay that lets the riffs breathe and broadens the sonic field. The set unfolds hypnotic grooves, patiently building crescendos and controlled waves where density is born as much from silences as from saturation, with a tone at once earthy, cosmic and blues-rock.
