On 24 November 2026 at Epic Studios in Norwich, corto.alto, the project led by Glasgow composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall, brings a live show built for movement and interplay. The band works at the crossroads of contemporary jazz, electronics, hip-hop and soul, sliding from tightly written horn motifs to open improvisations. Beats, bass and brass lock in and loosen up, with grooves that shift tempo and texture without losing the thread.

Shortall’s approach blends studio craft and onstage spontaneity: layers of sound, riffs passed between players, and rhythms that edge toward the club while staying rooted in ensemble playing. After a busy run of dates across the US, EU and Canada, and festival sets at We Out Here, WOMAD and Montreal Jazz Fest, the group arrives with material sharpened on the road and ready to evolve in the room. Named Breakthrough Artist at the AIM Awards in 2025, corto.alto carries that momentum into a set that favours collective energy over solos, pieces that build, break apart and reform in real time. Norwich gets a snapshot of where the project is right now, raw and focused, with a pulse that keeps moving.
