On 20 September 2026 at The Deaf Institute in Manchester, Split Chain bring their Bristol-born alloy of alternative rock, shoegaze, grunge, emo and alternative metal. Built around singer Bert Martinez-Cowles, the five-piece leans into dense, saturated guitars and shadowy melodies, with vocals that move between tension and fragility. The band plays with contrasts: heavy, driving rhythms set against hazier, drifting layers, where hooks cut through the static. Emerging in the early 2020s, they forged a hybrid language that nods to the 90s and 2000s while keeping a contemporary production. Shaped by the UK’s rock, hardcore and metal circuits, Split Chain keep sets direct and compact, letting melody stay central even as the sound thickens. Live, they occupy a line between heavy shoegaze, post-hardcore and alternative metal without settling into a single register, a balance that gives their shows a physical pull.
