The Milk Carton Kids land at Albert Hall, Manchester on 16 January 2027. Since 2011, the Los Angeles duo of Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan has built a singular folk language around close harmonies and two acoustic guitars that move in lockstep. On stage, their dry, quick-fire banter meets meticulous playing: Pattengale’s filigree picking weaving around Ryan’s steady rhythm, with songs that leave space for story and detail. The set draws from across their catalogue, including their seventh studio album and the recent I Only See the Moon, staying true to a stripped-back approach that lets the melodies and the writing carry the room.
Opening the evening, Vera Sola brings a darker shade of folk and americana. Under this alias, Danielle Aykroyd crafts narrative songs with taut arrangements and a cinematic hush, from the stark contours of Shades (2018) to the broader scope of Peacemaker (2024). A voice at once intimate and resolute, held by acoustic textures that linger.
