Seckou Keita and The Homeland Band ft Special Guests « 30th Anniversary Tour »

Seckou Keita brings his 30th Anniversary Tour to Islington Assembly Hall, London, on 28 November 2027, joined by The Homeland Band and special guests. A leading kora player from southern Senegal, Keita draws on Mandinka heritage and Casamance rhythms while opening his music to new dialogues. This show traces three decades of creation, from early pieces to recent works, carried by the shimmering tones of the kora and a band shaped for groove, space and interplay.

On stage, Keita moves with ease between intimate melodic patterns and driving polyrhythms, letting the kora converse with percussion, guitars and keys. The set blends traditional forms with contemporary colours, reaching into afro‑pop, urban and hip‑hop without losing the pulse of West African music. Words take their place too: award‑winning poets and rap artists from the UK and Senegal add spoken textures and verses, sampled and woven live into the arrangements to create fresh contours around Keita’s lines.

Expect revisited classics, new material and moments of improvisation that highlight the dialogue at the heart of his work: heritage meeting the present, acoustic meeting electronic, solo voice meeting collective energy.
