Sports bring their shapeshifting indie pop to Strange Brew in Bristol on 23 October 2026. Formed in Oklahoma and now based in Los Angeles, the project centres on singer-songwriter Cale Chronister and multi-instrumentalist Christian Theriot. Early EPs Naked All the Time and People Can’t Stop Chillin (2015) put them on the map with lo-fi textures, warm keyboards and unhurried melodies. Over time they’ve honed a sleeker, more crafted sound that nods to the 70s and 80s: discreet funk lines, synth-led ballads and lean R&B grooves. Recent releases Get A Good Look Pt. 1 (2021) and Pt. 2 (2022) push the voice to the fore, carried by rounded bass and restrained arrangements. On stage, Sports condense these studio layers into a tight live format, subtly reorchestrated and built around feel and pocket, where indie pop, bedroom pop and neo-soul meet. Special guests will join for the evening.
