ROOTWRKS: Chapter One arrives at Fox & Firkin, London on 5 August 2026, unearthed and curated by August Charles. Built as a live series for independent artists, this first chapter traces the lines between hip-hop, soul, blues and R&B — the sounds that have shaped his path. On stage, August Charles is joined by jev., FloFilz and Mica Sefia, four distinct voices sharing one ground rule: keep it close to the roots and let the songs breathe.

The backbone of the night is a dedicated house band of jazz musicians — Immanuel Simelane on bass, Munashe Kapswarah on drums, Cameron Ward on keys and Imraan Paleker on guitar. Their live touch gives each set room to stretch, opening space for dynamics, interplay and moments that only happen in the room. Artists move between rhythm and lyricism, solos slide into hooks, and ideas get tested in real time.

Chapter One is about catching these artists early and hearing the work at its foundation. August Charles sets the tone, jev., FloFilz and Mica Sefia bring their own angles, and the band ties it all together for a night rooted in groove, words and discovery.
