The Bluetones

On 18 October 2026 at The Liquid Room in Edinburgh, The Bluetones celebrate 30 years of their debut album Expecting To Fly by performing it in full. The original lineup — Mark Morriss (vocals), Adam Devlin (guitar), Scott Morriss (bass) and Eds Chesters (drums) — is back on stage together. First released in 1996, the album reached Number 1 in the UK, briefly overtaking Oasis’ What’s the Story (Morning Glory), while its standout single Slight Return climbed to Number 2. Expect the crisp guitars, melodic twists and understated melancholy that shaped the band’s blend of britpop, indie rock and jangle pop.

After the album set, the night opens onto the rest of their catalogue, with picks from three Top 10 albums and 13 Top 40 singles. Tracks from Return to the Last Chance Saloon, Science & Nature and beyond should rub shoulders with fan favourites, tracing a path from their mid-90s breakout to their later releases. With the four founding members at the helm, this show lines up the songs that started it all and the ones that have kept The Bluetones a fixture on UK stages.
