Info

IDLES land in Belfast on 26 August 2026 at Custom House Square. Formed in Bristol in 2009 around singer Joe Talbot and bassist Adam Devonshire, the band drives a taut strain of rock that cuts across punk, post-punk and post-hardcore. With Mark Bowen and Lee Kiernan on guitars and Jon Beavis on drums, they shape songs around dense riffs, stark chants and tight repetition. From Brutalism (2017) to Joy as an Act of Resistance (2018) and Ultra Mono (2020), their writing stays direct, taking on social questions, British politics, grief and shifting masculinities. Crawler (2021) eased the tempo and turned inward; TANGK (2024) brought sharper melodies without softening the edge. On stage, the voice is upfront and the group moves as one, built on shared chants and collective drive.

Chalk open the night at home. The Belfast duo of Ross Cullen and Benedict Goddard splice abrasive guitars with electronic pressure, pulling from techno and drum-and-bass rhythms, spoken delivery and a cold-wave tint. Conditions (2023) set the tone; since then they’ve pushed this hybrid across UK and European stages and festivals. Their background in film feeds a clear visual sense that threads through their releases and the way the live set unfolds.
