Jools Holland brings his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra to the Globe Theatre, Stockton-on-Tees, on 2 December 2026. A pianist, bandleader and founding member of Squeeze, Holland has built a long-term project around the traditions of rhythm and blues and boogie-woogie. On stage, his left-hand grooves and fast, percussive phrasing guide a section of brass, reeds and a rhythm section in arrangements that draw on the blues, swing and early rock ’n’ roll. The orchestra alternates jump instrumentals, vocal numbers and slower blues, with precise ensemble hits, choruses and call-and-response exchanges centred on the piano. The repertoire mixes his own songs with genre classics, reshaped for big-band energy without losing the soul of the originals. Known to the wider public for Later… with Jools Holland, he returns here to the essentials of his work: a piano in the front line, a tight big band behind it, and a pulse built for the stage.
