Rainbow Kitten Surprise lands at O2 Academy Brixton in London on 9 June 2026 with their blend of indie rock and alternative folk. Formed in Boone, North Carolina, the band has built a sound where expressive lead vocals, tight harmonies and sharp dynamic shifts carry intimate storytelling. From the early days of Seven + Mary and RKS to How to: Friend, Love, Freefall and the more recent Love Hate Music Box, they navigate between hushed, folk-tinged passages and electric surges, folding pop sensibilities into guitar-driven arrangements that stay lean and melodic. Themes of identity, spirituality and personal ties traversed their records and continue to structure their live set.
Also from Boone, Cigarettes @ Sunset brings its self-dubbed Possum Rock, a meeting point between Americana, indie rock, Appalachian folk and rootsy touches. Led by Garrett Dellinger, the quintet writes around a direct vocal line, rugged guitars and a compact rhythm section, with violin lines that anchor the songs in the mountain tradition while keeping a contemporary edge. Grounded in their local scene and shaped by a band-first approach, they deliver a raw, cohesive sound that opens a different window onto the Southeast.
