Deacon Blue bring their songbook to Scarborough Open Air Theatre on 10 July 2026. Since breaking out of Glasgow in the late 80s, Ricky Ross, Lorraine McIntosh and the band have shaped a melodic pop-rock with a soulful edge. Albums like Raintown and When the World Knows Your Name set the tone, with Dignity, Real Gone Kid, Wages Day and Fergus Sings the Blues becoming fixtures. On stage, close harmonies, bright keys, chiming guitars and a steady rhythm section portent stories of work, love and city life. Decades on, the set leans into both memory and movement: early favourites sharpened by years on the road sit alongside recent tracks from City of Love and Riding on the Tide of Love. It’s a show built on craft rather than flash, the band playing with an easy swing while Ross steers the room from hushed verses to choruses that open out under the sky. In Scarborough, expect a direct, warm night with Deacon Blue and songs that travel well.
