Glen Hansard brings his raw, heartfelt songwriting to Glasgow on 20 May 2026 at Barrowland Ballroom. First known as the frontman of The Frames, the Dublin musician reached a wider audience with the film Once and its song Falling Slowly, before carving a solo path with Rhythm and Repose, Didn’t He Ramble and This Wild Willing. His music moves between folk and rock with a focus on storytelling and melody.

On stage, Hansard likes to stretch songs, shift from a whisper to a full-band swell, and set the scene with stories that give the tracks new angles. Expect a set that roams across his catalogue, with room for detours and dynamic turns, from early Frames material to songs written with Markéta Irglová. He often slips in tributes to artists he admires and brings the room into the choruses. Voice forward and driven by the crack of an acoustic guitar, his live sound keeps things close and direct while the band shapes the space around him.
