Del Amitri

Formed in Glasgow in 1980 around singer-bassist and songwriter Justin Currie, Del Amitri carved a place in British guitar music with a blend of jangling melodies, taut rock energy and a dry, melancholy streak. The band refined its line-up and sound through the late 80s, finding balance between clear guitars, direct hooks and wry, plain-spoken lyrics. Waking Hours (1989) and Change Everything (1992) carried Nothing Ever Happens, Kiss This Thing Goodbye and Always the Last to Know, before Twisted (1995) and Some Other Sucker’s Parade (1997) pushed on with crisp pop craft, including Roll to Me. After Can You Do Me Good? in 2002, they stepped back, regrouped live in 2013 and returned to the studio for Fatal Mistakes in 2021.

On stage, Del Amitri focus on the songs: lean arrangements, tight playing and choruses that land without fuss. The set swings from chiming pop to rougher-edged rock and slower cuts, leaving space for the tracks that marked their 90s run alongside newer material that sits naturally with it.
