Jon B., the Providence-born, Altadena-raised singer, songwriter and producer, bridges 90s R&B with today’s adult soul through slow jams, mid-tempo grooves and unfussy melodies. First a behind-the-scenes writer, he stepped forward under Babyface’s wing at Yab-Yum, delivering Bonafide (1995) and Cool Relax (1997), then Pleasures U Like, Stronger Everyday, Holiday Wishes, Helpless Romantic and Comfortable Swagg. Sessions with Babyface, 2Pac and Donell Jones helped shape a sound that stays close to melody, harmony and laid-back rhythm.
On stage, Jon B. leans on live, supple arrangements and a voice built for quiet intensity, stretching familiar hooks and deep cuts without overstatement. Expect a set that slips from candlelit ballads to gently swinging mid-tempos, balancing reworked classics with fan favorites and a few detours for the heads.
