Hothouse Flowers

Hothouse Flowers bring their soulful blend of rock and tradition to Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on 21 December 2026. Formed on the streets of Dublin in 1985 around Liam Ó Maonlaí and Fiachna Ó Braonáin, soon joined by Peter O’Toole, the band shaped a sound that threads alternative rock and folk rock with Celtic colours, gospel touches and an Irish traditional pulse. On stage, Ó Maonlaí’s voice and close harmonies lead songs that shift from energetic bursts to hushed acoustic ballads, with folk motifs running through the arrangements.

From People (1988) and Home (1990) to Songs from the Rain (1993), their catalogue sets the tone for a set that balances early staples with later chapters like Born (1998), The Vaults Vol. 1 (2003), Into Your Heart (2004) and Let’s Do This Thing (2016). Over the years the group has also crossed paths with Indigo Girls, The Dubliners and Def Leppard in the one‑off project The Acoustic Hippies From Hell. Today, a core built around Ó Maonlaí, Ó Braonáin, Dave Clarke, Martin Brunsden and Peter O’Toole carries these songs on stage, alternately collective and intimate, anchored in melody and rhythm.
