Rainbow Kitten Surprise brings its indie rock to Bristol on 7 June 2026 at The Prospect Building. Formed in North Carolina, the quintet has built a sound where Ela Melo’s expressive voice meets tight vocal harmonies, melodic guitars and sharp dynamic breaks. On stage, the band moves easily between hushed passages and more electric surges, stitching folk colours to pop-leaning rhythms. Their set draws on the raw storytelling of Seven + Mary and RKS, the crafted contrasts of How to: Friend, Love, Freefall, and the 2024 album Love Hate Music Box, with lyrics that circle intimacy, identity and spirituality.
Sharing the bill, Cigarettes @ Sunset come from the same Boone scene with a self-coined Possum Rock: a junction of Americana, indie rock and Appalachian folk. Led by Garrett Dellinger, the group plays it close and direct, with rugged guitars, a tight rhythm section and a violin line that pulls their songs back to the mountains. A compact, stage-shaped sound that offers a grounded counterpoint to Rainbow Kitten Surprise.
