On November 7, 2026, Allison Russell brings her In The Hour of Chaos Tour to Grey Eagle in Calgary. Montreal-born and long rooted in the North American folk scene, she moves between folk, Americana and roots, shifting from guitar and banjo to clarinet. After early steps with Fear of Drinking, she co-founded Po’ Girl in 2003, then Birds of Chicago in 2012 with JT Nero, and joined the collective Our Native Daughters with Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla and Amythyst Kiah. Her solo work took shape with Outside Child (2021), an album about childhood, memory and rebuilding, followed by The Returner (2023), where she widens her palette with a stronger rhythmic backbone and soulful colors. On stage, she stitches intimate storytelling into a contemporary acoustic fabric.
Sharing the bill, AHI (Ahkinoah Habah Izarh) brings contemporary folk anchored in acoustic roots, a direct writing style and subtle soul shades. From Indie Soul (2014) to We Made It Through the Wreckage (2016), In Our Time (2018) and Prospect (2021), he has shaped a narrative, uncluttered repertoire. Winner of the Canadian Songwriting Competition’s folk category and the Stingray Rising Star Award, and twice Juno-nominated in Contemporary Roots, AHI adds a clear, intimate voice that pairs naturally with Russell’s wide-angled Americana.
