Bolden. brings the Who you really are. Tour 2026 to The Mod Club in Toronto on October 8, 2026. The UK duo of Reuben Barrett and Catherine Rannus moves between contemporary jazz, house and electronic textures. Named in reference to Buddy Bolden, the project folds jazz phrasing into a present-day framework. On stage, they trade instruments and roles, building sets that feel played in the moment rather than programmed. Sax and flute lines glide over steady pulses, with keys, guitar, live drums and voice interacting with samplers and synths, leaving room for improvisation without losing the groove.

Active since 2024, Bolden. first surfaced with a run of singles before releasing the album Would appear to be jazz. Their show leans on the rhythmic instincts of Barrett, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, and the more classical background of Rannus, also multi-instrumentalist. The result is a flexible, hybrid sound: motifs from jazz, hooks that stick, and house cadences sharing the same space, shaped for both attentive listening and a room in motion.
