Info
Paul Brady plays Vicar Street on 19 June 2026. Belfast-born singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he cut his teeth between R&B, folk and Irish traditional music before widening his writing toward pop and rock. From early days in Dublin bands to The Johnstons’ London/New York run, his path moves through Planxty and the landmark duo with Andy Irvine.
His solo work shifts from traditional roots (Welcome Here Kind Stranger) to the songwriting of Hard Station, True for You, Back to the Centre and Primitive Dance, where folk-rock, melodic pop and storytelling meet. On stage he moves between guitar, piano and bouzouki, revisiting songs drawn from tradition and from his own catalogue. Recent albums Unfinished Business and Maybe So sit naturally beside older cuts, occasionally recast in more acoustic or electric shapes. Echoes of collaborations with Tommy Peoples, Matt Molloy, Bonnie Raitt or Richard Thompson surface in the arrangements, between rhythmic drive, slow airs and close-up ballads, in the room at Vicar Street, Dublin.
