Info
On 24 July 2026, The Wolfe Tones bring six decades of Irish balladry to 3Arena, Dublin. Formed in 1963 in Bluebell, Dublin, the group forged a sound rooted in acoustic folk, street ballads and rebel songs, with at times a more direct, folk‑rock edge. The long-standing core of Brian Warfield and Noel Nagle was joined by singer-guitarist Tommy Byrne in 1964; after Derek Warfield’s departure in 2001, the band has continued as a trio.
Their repertoire mixes original compositions with reworked traditional numbers, guided by themes of emigration, national identity and historical memory. Tight vocal harmonies, tin whistle and strings shape arrangements that travel easily from pubs to big rooms, carried by choruses known across Ireland and the diaspora. The catalogue ranges from early recordings like The Foggy Dew to key albums such as Let the People Sing, A Sense of Freedom, You’ll Never Beat the Irish, Child of Destiny and The Dublin Rebellion 1916. On stage, the songs move from reflective ballads to march rhythms built for collective singing, tracing the thread of Irish folk across generations.
