Assassin is a French hip-hop group founded in Paris in the mid-1980s, led by Rockin’ Squat. The group developed a conscious, independent hip-hop style, with an uncompromising voice, politically engaged lyrics, and a strong commitment to artistic freedom.
Assassin is the first French rap group to earn a gold record entirely independently, producing and distributing their music through their own label, Assassin Productions. With over one million albums sold, the group has influenced several generations of artists in France and internationally.
In 2026, the group returned with a new album and a tour, continuing their activist and artistic approach.
