Assassin is a French hip-hop group, founded in Paris in the mid-1980s and led by Rockin' Squat, a prominent figure of politically engaged rap in France.
A forerunner of conscious and free hip-hop, the group distinguished itself from the outset by its direct delivery, politically engaged lyrics, and artistic freedom. Assassin was one of the first French rap groups to earn a gold record while producing and distributing its music independently through its own label, Assassin Productions. The group thus became a reference point for the culture in France and internationally. With more than one million albums sold, Assassin has influenced several generations of artists.
The group returns with a new album and a tour.
