Mekdes Trio

Mekdes Trio lands at Pavillonen in Grenaa on 23 October 2026. Danish–Ethiopian singer, songwriter and producer Mekdes has shaped a sound at the crossroads of neo-soul, pop and R&B, built around voice-forward melodies, uncluttered production and introspective writing, often crafted solo. After early uploads on Instagram, the 2018 single Right Direction marked a first step, followed in 2019 by shows at SPOT Festival, NorthSide and Smukfest that placed the project on Denmark’s live map.

The EP Fly (2020) and debut album Greedy (2022) drew a clear line: contemporary soul that keeps emotion close to the surface without overloading the mix. In 2023 came Føles Godt with URO, opening up to a wider audience at home. The 2024 EP Mekdes Synger Toppen Af Poppen reinterpreted known tracks through Mekdes’ lens, before The Boy I Am in 2026 signalled a new chapter, aligned with the artist’s public coming-out as trans.

On stage in trio format, the music leans on detail and space: layered vocals up front, supple basslines, tight drums and keys that let the songs breathe. Rearranged cuts from Greedy and The Boy I Am sit alongside earlier tracks, bringing studio clarity into a focused, intimate live frame.
