Assassin is a French hip-hop group founded in Paris in the mid-1980s, led by Livin'Astro. The group developed a socially conscious, independent form of hip-hop and was characterized from the start by politically engaged lyrics and artistic freedom. Assassin was the first French rap group to earn a gold record entirely independently, producing and distributing its music through its own label, Assassin Productions. The group influenced the scene in France and internationally. With more than one million albums sold, Assassin has shaped several generations of artists. In 2027, the group returns with a new album and a tour.
