Médine « Enfant du destin »

On June 11, 2027, at Salle Pleyel in Paris, Médine presents Enfants du destin, a deep dive into one of the flagship series of his repertoire. Since his first album he has been recounting childhoods struck by the major movements of the world — colonization, war, slavery, oppression — giving them a first name, a face, an interrupted trajectory. David, Souhan, Kunta Kinte, Nour and Yasser form a gallery of characters, real or fictional, who carry a collective memory and make different eras converse.

On stage the setup is acoustic and intimate. For 90 minutes the rapper unfolds these narratives like a storyteller, supported by Guillaume Zolnierowsky’s piano and guitar and by Shéhérazade’s voice and cello. This sparseness emphasizes the text, its rhythm and its breaths, and lets the central lines of the stories emerge.

Karinale Lo van Zaouiche appears in touches during dialogued interludes. Speech circulates, rubs up against doubt, and questions what is passed on and what is repeated. Enfants du destin sits on the border between concert and theater, a setting designed to listen, connect and question the present through the traces left by history.
