Calema

On November 28, 2026, at L’Amphithéâtre 3000 in Lyon, Calema returns to the stage with their blend of Lusophone pop and Afro rhythms. The duo, made up of brothers António and Fradique Mendes Ferreira, grew up between São Tomé and Príncipe, Portugal and France. Their name, taken from the waves of the Atlantic, aptly captures the character of their music: in motion, mixed in heritage, and oriented toward travel.

On record as well as live, Calema combines Afrobeat, touches of kizomba, radio-friendly pop and light R&B, all carried by carefully crafted vocal harmonies and choruses in Portuguese. Songs like Te Amo have established their sentimental, accessible songwriting at the heart of the Lusophone scene, while their appearance at the Festival da Canção with A Dois solidified their place in contemporary Portuguese pop. In 2024 they marked their 15th anniversary with the album Voyage, colored by pop, Afro and Latin hues, and energized by transatlantic collaborations.

In Lyon the same through-line is present: danceable numbers, two-part vocal ballads, and arrangements that navigate between Portuguese-speaking Africa and European influences. The concert is designed to let the energy and the stories circulate, without losing sight of what matters: closeness and melody.
