Kim Gordon « Play Me Tour »

Kim Gordon brings the Play Me Tour to The Opera House in Toronto on September 11, 2026. Cofounder of Sonic Youth, she has long worked the edges of experimental rock, noise and post-punk, shaping a sound built on dissonant guitars, abrasive textures and a spoken-sung delivery that hovers between performance and intimate writing. Since Sonic Youth, she has multiplied collaborative projects, notably Body/Head with guitarist Bill Nace, before stepping out under her own name with No Home Record (2019) and The Collective (2024). On stage, her solo material leans into heavy, looped rhythms, distortion and bass pressure, with fragments of melody and spoken word cutting through the grit. The set traces a line between New York no wave heritage and West Coast art-scene instincts, trading classic song structure for tension, repetition and sudden bursts of clarity. It’s a live format that treats the guitar like a noise generator, folds in electronics and lets voice and texture steer the narrative.
