Marcus Gad

Originally from Nouméa, New Caledonia, Marcus Gad champions a spiritually infused roots reggae that draws on Kanak culture and a strong connection to nature. Brought to prominence by a series of EPs and by Purify in 2017, he developed an aesthetic marked by slow tempos, enveloping backing vocals and acoustic tones. His collaboration with producer Tamal on Brave New World (2018) opened a more meditative path, where roots intersects with dub and downtempo textures. With Rhythm of Serenity in 2020, he confirmed a songwriting approach in both English and French tackling ecology, colonial legacies and social issues, echoing the concerns of Pacific Indigenous peoples and Rastafarian culture.

On stage, accompanied by his band Tribe, Marcus Gad delivers a precise, organic sound that gives voices and grooves room to breathe. In Bordeaux, on 14 November 2026 at the Rock School Barbey, he will present a set that moves between roots reggae and dub resonances, nourished by his various periods and collaborations. Between New Caledonia and Europe, he circulates music that takes its time—carried by careful arrangements and a communal spirit—designed as much for the stage as for attentive listening.
