Thomas Fersen

Thomas Fersen presents Comme on quitte un imperméable on 29 January 2027 at the Pin Galant in Mérignac. A singer-songwriter with a pronounced taste for stories set to song, he offers a performance on the border between musical theatre and the pop recital. Directed by Samuel Achache, with musical direction by Florent Hubert, the show marks the 30th anniversary of his album Le Bal des oiseaux while opening a new chapter.

Accompanied by three musicians, Fersen unfolds, in eight-syllable lines, the journey of an apprentice globetrotter: hesitant beginnings in music, a lost part-time cable technician’s stint, and then a departure for Mexico, urged on by a father intent on provoking the impulse. Between previously unheard songs and selections drawn from his repertoire, he assembles a sequence of images and scenes that blend a sense of dislocation, lushness, devotion and the religiosity of the places traversed. The narrative thread advances in vignettes, between confidences and tableaux, tracing an allegorical map of the voyage.

This concert-narrative sets Fersen’s rhythmic writing in dialogue with finely carved arrangements, for a crossing where the song serves as both compass and travel journal. It is a way to revisit his repertoire and reveal its main lines of force in the present.
