Roméo & Juliette

Roméo & Juliette, the musical by Gérard Presgurvic, returns to the stage and makes a stop at Palais Nikaïa in Nice on March 17, 2028. Shakespeare’s tragedy is presented in French pop, carried by landmark songs such as Les Rois du monde and Aimer, to tell the rise and fall of the lovers of Verona.

At the heart of the project, the original duo picks up their story where they left off. Damien Sargue returns as Roméo, a role he has played since 2001 and taken internationally. Opposite him, Cécilia Cara reunites with Juliette, a character that was foundational to her career and that she now approaches with the perspective of time. Together, they revisit this two-voice score, oscillating between ardor and vulnerability.

Around them, a reimagined production: a new cast, updated costumes and scenography, with staging choices conceived for today while preserving the show’s DNA. It is a way to bring these songs and this story back into circulation—still asking the question of what one is willing to risk for love.
