Il était une fois … Ennio Morricone et Nino Rota

On 23 January 2027 at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne‑Billancourt, this symphonic concert honours the works of Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. On the podium, Marcello Rota conducts a programme conceived as a dialogue between music, light and image, inviting a return to the scores that shaped Italian cinema and beyond.

Alongside the orchestra, three soloists well acquainted with Morricone’s world take the stage: Nello Salza on trumpet, Ludovico Fulci at the piano and soprano Susanna Rigacci. All three accompanied the composer for more than thirty years, performing in over 500 concerts worldwide. They revisit here themes written for Sergio Leone, from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to Once Upon a Time in the West, and unfold Rota’s side with music composed for Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather) and for Federico Fellini (La Strada).

Between orchestral sweep, solo timbres and visual projections, the programme brings together landmark pieces by both composers, presented in their symphonic writing and within the imagery of the films that revealed them.
