Celtic Legends

Celtic Legends celebrates its 25th anniversary and will stop at L’Axone, Montbéliard, on 2 March 2027 with a new production presented during its anniversary tour. Born on the road, the company brings together dancers, musicians and singers for a journey into the heart of Irish traditions, where percussive dance is woven into live music.

Choreographed by Jacintha Sharpe, the pieces alternate between tight ensemble work, duets and solos, in constant dialogue with five musicians led by Sean McCarthy. Uilleann pipes, penny whistle, fiddle, bodhrán and guitar outline an acoustic soundscape that moves through reels, jigs and ballads. Everything is performed live: the accents of the steps answer the instruments’ timbres, the bodhrán’s rhythms support the melodic lines, and the fiddle’s flights meet the Irish flute.

Since the early 2000s, Celtic Legends has been refining this stage language where the precision of the footwork meets folk energy. For this quarter-century milestone, the company re-centers the essence of its identity: choreography rooted in tradition, vibrant arrangements and an immediate connection between stage and audience, without artifice, as close as possible to sound and movement.
